Welcome to Best Pet Rx! Please contact your veterinarian’s office and have them call or fax your pet’s prescription details to one of our pharmacy locations.
Once we receive the prescription, we will contact you by phone to review the order, arrange payment, and discuss same-day or next business day delivery options.
For nearly 20 years, Best Pet Rx has operated from our flagship pharmacy location in NYC, delivering compounded pet medications throughout the United States. In June of 2021, we opened a pharmacy in Manassas, VA, to better support our clients.
You can find pharmacy contact information for both locations here.
If you have a current RX number from your pet’s prescription, you can quickly order a refill using the Best Pet Rx App. Click here for iPhone or here for Android. The Best Pet Rx App is easy to use and automatically alerts you when refills are due for your pet.
You can also place refill orders through our online form or by contacting our pharmacy directly by phone, text, or email.
NOTE: Medication refills transferred between our NYC and Manassas pharmacy locations have different RX numbers. Check the label of your pet’s most recent prescription for the current RX number or contact our pharmacy team for assistance.
Contact your veterinarian’s office or let us know so we can reach out to them on your behalf. We will work together to get your prescription updated as quickly as possible.
Depending on your pet’s condition and the medication needed, your veterinarian may need to see your pet before they will approve a refill of that prescription. When your veterinarian approves the new prescription, a different RX number is generated with an additional number of refills.
When placing your pet’s medication order, please be sure to provide our pharmacy team with the best contact phone number and email address for delivery updates.
For medications sent by parcel service, you will receive a tracking email from our shipping partners once the shipping label is created at our pharmacy. Most orders confirmed by 4pm EST are delivered the following business day.
If you live in one of our courier service areas, you will be informed of the medication delivery window when placing your order. Our courier partners also send text, voice, and email messages as your order moves through their system and is out for delivery.
You can review our delivery options and courier windows here.
All shipments include the order receipt, your pet’s medication, and instructions for properly dosing your pet printed on the medication container.
When needed, we also include syringes for oral liquids, gloves for safe handling of certain medications, and finger cots for applying transdermal gels. Any additional information pertaining to the specific formulation or medication for your pet is provided on an enclosed sheet.
All Best Pet Rx flavors are protein-free and hypoallergenic. They will not aggravate medical conditions your pet may have that are associated with food-related restrictions.
Our experienced pharmacy team can help select a hypoallergenic flavor that will taste best with the specific medication that your pet needs. Some flavors might be the tastiest choice, even if your pet can’t typically have that particular flavor in their diet.
We want to ensure your pet takes their medication easily and regularly, which is why we offer free flavor replacements on compounded medications. Just notify our pharmacy of flavor issues within five days of delivery, and our pharmacy team will be happy to help!
Our goal is to make medicating your pet as easy as possible! You can find medication instructions for administering common formulations in the resources section of our website.
If you ever have a concern or question about giving your pet medication, our friendly pharmacy team is here to help. Please call or email us during pharmacy hours to speak with a Best Pet Rx representative.
Some syringes that we dispense with oral liquid medications are labeled with the following precautions: “Not for Oral Use. Do Not Re-shield Used Needles. Sterile. Single-Use.”
These syringes are designed for human injections with a needle; however, we’ve found that they are the best syringes available for giving pets oral medications. Since these are not used for sterile applications, they can be rinsed and reused, which reduces waste.
