Transdermal Preparations

Transdermal gels provide an alternative route of administering medication when giving
oral formulations is not possible.

Transdermal2

Many cats are uncooperative with oral dosing, no matter the formulation type or flavor. Transdermal gels are massaged into the skin, usually on the inside of the upper ear flap, so pet owners can give medications to their pets easily and consistently. Since transdermal formulations are most often prescribed when oral options fail, they need to work!

QUALITY
The effectiveness of a transdermal preparation depends upon both the quality of the base selected and its specificity to the API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) prescribed. Best Pet Rx uses proprietary transdermal bases with a liposomal component that may increase the permeation of a variety of API’s.

EXPERT GUIDANCE
We custom compound patient-specific orders using standardized formulas and the guidance of veterinary pharmacology experts who select the appropriate transdermal base to match each API.
